17 goals choice

According to TASK1's requirements, I will choose a Goal in 17 GOALS and explain the reasons.

The Goal I chose is NO. 15 Life on Land, because I am an observer of amateur bird, and I can feel the beauty of many life and the balanced relationship between them.

I choose Forests as my detailed goal,Because forests are one of the most rich biological groups on land, and trees are an important part of carbon cycle.

Artwork choose

I explored several artwork about environmental protection and animal protection on the Internet. I chose one of them as my explanation object

This is a set of triad posters, which shows the dynamic relationship of environmental protection and animal living conditions.I chose one of them to explain. This work shows the harm of mountain fires to the number of species groups. The design shows the dynamic relationship between the two, which perfectly meets the goals NO.15 of forest protection in UNSDG

Approximate Symmetry:Similar symmetry is a very common type of symmetry in nature. In this pair of works, it is difficult for us to find a very symbolic symmetry type, because the main objects are animals. Most animals in nature (including polar bears, deer and monkeys in the works) have symmetrical limbs, eyes, and bones. In the picture, all animals have a side perspective, so they have the same symmetrical line. The method of planting three -dimensional shows approximation of symmetry.

Isolation&Hierarchy:The composition of the poster is divided into two parts. The upper part is disturbing scenery, and the lower part is the shape of the animal. This level conveys a clear theme, expressing the dynamic relationship of environmental deterioration and animal survival problems.
The clever double exposure is used in the composition as transition and segmentation,Express the organic relationship between animals and the environment, so that the intersection and parallel part of the two themes will be excessive and more natural.

Color Contrast:The color of the trees in the work and the color of the mountain fire,  the color of the forest and wasteland have a sharp comparison. The impact brought by this comparison emphasizes the theme of environmental protection again

Texture Contrast:The author uses superb dual exposure skills to combine the material and animal skin materials, so as to show the inseparable ideas of the environment and the individual of animals.

Negative Space Contrast: The author cleverly uses negative space comparison. The scene has a large blank space, but at the same time maintains the original outer contour of the animal. Large -scale blank spaces convey the number of ecological and animal populations with positively correlated ideas

Gestalt theory:The author focuses on using the elements in the gestaly theory

typography:Use text auxiliary expression themes

visual analysis

Composition analysis:

The poster uses a simple composition method to place the subject in the center of the poster, and add a small number of typesetting texts to the lower right corner. In the theme of this work, the author's purpose of choosing this simple typesetting is to express the theme more intuitive. The main object is divided into two visual areas, mountain fires and monkeys. The two represent a part of the theme.

The composition of this work contains the Approximate Symmetry. In nature, the APProximate Symmetry is very common. Many creatures include this symmetry, including the monkeys in this poster. The limbs of the side -view monkey form a three -dimensional symmetry, which produces a more harmonious and unified visual effect. At the same time, the body of the mountain fire and the monkey also have the characteristics of approximate symmetry. The two form a dynamic balance.

Interpreting Visual Elements:

In the visual elements of this poster, It show the appearance of a monkey, the scenery of the mountain fire, and the forest. The theme of this work expresses the effect of mountain fire on the number of species. The burning of the mountain fire disappears. At the same time, the trees are intersected as one of the visual elements and the monkey's visual elements, so the formation of the formation: mountain fire leads to the monkey disappear, monkeys represent a variety of animals. In the end Formation of complete logic: mountain fire leads to animal reduction.

The color of the trees in the work and the color of the mountain fire, , and the color of the forest and wasteland have a sharp comparison. The impact brought by this comparison emphasizes the theme of environmental protection again

The work uses dual exposure skills to combine the material and animal skin materials, so as to show the inseparable ideas of the environment and the individual of animals.

Identifying Design Principles:

  1. 2. Isolation&Hierarchy:The composition of the poster is divided into two parts. The upper part is disturbing scenery, and the lower part is the shape of the animal. This level conveys a clear theme, expressing the dynamic relationship of environmental deterioration and animal survival problems.
  3. Color Contrast:The color of the trees in the work and the color of the mountain fire,  the color of the forest and wasteland have a sharp comparison. The impact brought by this comparison emphasizes the theme of environmental protection again
  4. Texture Contrast:The author uses superb dual exposure skills to combine the material and animal skin materials, so as to show the inseparable ideas of the environment and the individual of animals.
  5. Negative Space Contrast: The author cleverly uses negative space comparison. The scene has a large blank space, but at the same time maintains the original outer contour of the animal. Large -scale blank spaces convey the number of ecological and animal populations with positively correlated ideas
  6. Gestalt theory:The author focuses on using the elements in the gestaly theory,Make the viewer's perspective switch between different visual elements, and different visual elements blend with each other, forming a complete logic to the observers.
  7. TypographyThe text is added in the lower right corner to clarify the theme directly and clarify the theme

Design principles analysis

Approximate Symmetry:
The background building is approximately symmetrical, and the alley in the middle can be regarded as a symmetrical shaft.

Asymmetric balance:The use of asymmetric balance, through the contrast of the size, color, contrast, and brightness, guide the observer to watch the elements in a specific order.

Color contrast:I used color comparison to change the weight of the element in the screen by color. Guide the viewing order of the observer

Hierarchy:I used the perspective as a visual prompt, so that the observers first noticed the subject and then noticed the secondary object

Isolation:The layering composition centered on perspective, guide the observer

Gestalt Completion(Principle of Proximity & Principle of Continuity):Close the main elements and dimensions,The principle of continuity posits that humans perceive continuous patterns or lines more readily than discontinuous ones. This principle is often used in design to guide the viewer's eye along a path or flow of information. The principle of proximity suggests that elements that are close to each other are perceived as belonging together or forming a group. This principle is fundamental in design for organizing and grouping elements to convey relationships and hierarchy.

Creative Expression: Closure can be leveraged in art and design to create visually engaging compositions that encourage viewer participation and interpretation. Artists often use incomplete or suggestive forms to stimulate the viewer's imagination and evoke a sense of mystery or intrigue.

Typography:Use the title point of the topic

Final Summary

In the final work, I lit the birds because of the birds as a part of urban animals, and they rarely were concerned. In contrast, stray cats care about and feed them because many people think it is cute. This exacerbated the contradiction.I stripped the cute and simple side of the cat, aiming to emphasize the fact that cat hunting birds. I put the cat in the dark, behind the bird's back. I hope that the observer will see the attacked cat after paying attention to the bird, so that the observer feels a sense of anxiety. The gray forest in the title refers to the city. The city is not designed for animals. The living space of urban animals in the city is limited. Contradiction is inevitable,That's Struggle for Urban Sanctyaries's meaning.

Final Reflection

What have I learnt in this module?
I learned to use design principles for creation, and analyze other design works

What did I enjoy the most?
Create freely, use design principles to express what I think in my heart, and make my idea a visible work

What did I not enjoy the most?
The paintings and design skills are rusty, lack of experience, and cannot achieve more advanced design

What have I learnt about myself through this module?
What I usually think is that the accumulated elements are not useless, but I lack enough professional ability to show them

What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
After learning the design principles, my way of thinking has changed, I can more scientifically conceive and analyze my works. But in painting techniques, I still need to learn more in the future

What could be improved in this module?
For more creative cases, although I found my way, I was confused at the beginning. If there are more design principles examples, I will do better.
